A PLATFORM AGAINST CLICKBAIT AND FAKE NEWS

The idea of creating a platform to shame clickbait and fake news was conceived in 2020, out of a genuine concern that fake news and clickbait in today’s society are having a very big effect on the lives of millions of people.

The media and the press are under pressure and have to compete with online blogs, twitter and other sub-forms of news. As a result, sometimes, often under time pressure, essential steps such as checking sources are skipped. Clickbait has also entered the mainstream press, in an attempt to garner more clicks and generate income from the online news sites.

There was, in our view, a need for a tool to do something about it. Clickshame, though probably not perfect, is going to try to be that instrument.
